Landscape-Led Approach

The formulation of these scheme proposals have taken a landscape-led approach, which has been inspired by the site’s existing robust landscape structure and the opportunity to use this to create a new, sensitive and respectful settlement edge.

Key aspects of this landscape-led approach include the following:

    • Containing built form in the north of the site and nestling built form into the site’s existing landscape structure presents an opportunity to create generous and attractive areas of newly publicly-accessible open space comprising almost 50% of the site.

    • There is an opportunity to keep the southern and eastern portions of the site open, creating a sensitive transition to the open landscape beyond, create a respectful and a ‘soft’ new settlement edge.

    • New planting and sustainable drainage features and a network of footpaths will be created, supporting nature and delivering meaningful ecological and biodiversity net gains.

    • The new public open spaces are available for the entire community to use and cherish, and will be managed and maintained in perpetuity.
